JACINTA WALSH M.A.

Jacinta’s expertise to lead a world class dance specialist programme has been developed over many years of international experience. She graduated from the Victorian College of the Arts under the Deanship of Anne Woolliams, with a Diploma of Dance and embarked on a professional ballet career in Europe. During this time, Jacinta worked with world renowned directors and choreographers in dance companies such as Basel Ballet, Berlin Ballet and Innsbruck Tiroler Landestheater. She also guested with other European companies. The performance repertoire included most genres of dance: ballet, modern, contemporary, dance theatre and musical theatre. Subsequently, Jacinta assisted and personally represented internationally acclaimed artistic directors in dance, opera, film and theatre. At the same time, she accomplished a postgraduate Diploma in Business Management, Arts and Cultural Management (UniSA), receiving distinction for her field project with the Australian Ballet Company.

TAUGHT BY THE BEST

Jacinta has learnt directly from some of the world best master ballet teachers while studying the traditional ballet techniques of the Vaganova, Royal Danish and Paris Opera schools, and the Boris Kniaseff system. She has extensive experience in running programs in vocational arts schools in Melbourne, Singapore and Europe. Jacinta also completed her Master of Management (Arts and Cultural Management) at UniSA, and was awarded membership in the exclusive Golden Key International Honour Society, for students in the top 15% of their respective fields. Leading a world-class academy has been Jacinta’s long term aim. In preparation, she has travelled extensively, to research leading vocational ballet schools and ballet/dance companies to identify and bring back the best practice. As a 21st century leader and ambassador of the performing arts, Jacinta’s experience, knowledge, skills and passion will serve well to fulfill the Ballet Arts Academy’s vision. Jacinta is confident in her ability to sustain an enriching and creative environment, which fosters the well-being of every student. She is very much committed to high-quality training achieved collectively with her team. Jacinta’s hard earned inter/national arts network will be useful in promoting the academy’s competitive advantage long into the future.

Jacinta’s vision offers a truly unique ballet arts programme, which embraces the spirit of the country and its boundless creativity, thereby fostering exceptional young dancers.
​These dancers will achieve extensive career opportunities with Australian and international ballet companies or move into the creative arts industries world-wide. Jacinta intends to create an ongoing development of holistic dance education and leave a legacy that will build a thriving future for the art form, while respecting tradition.
