master BALLET TEACHER
Jacinta Walsh’s expertise to lead a world class dance specialist programme has been developed over many years of international experience, knowledge and achievements. Originally, Jacinta's ballet training and dance education with the great master ballet teacher Anne Woolliams and her distinguished school of international dance teachers in Melbourne. There, Jacinta was awarded the Anthony Joseph Pratt Scholarship, the Big Brother Scholarship and graduated with a Diploma of Dance and achieved grade 6 piano AMEB, before embarking on a professional ballet career in Europe.
In Europe, Jacinta accepted her first professional engagement with Heinz Spoerli and Peter Appel at Basel Ballet in Switzerland. She performed in Spoerli’s ballet productions like; Swan Lake, Giselle, The Nutcracker, Don Quixote, Romeo & Juliet, and Paul Taylor's modern work "Esplanade". Two years later, Youri Vàmos invited Jacinta to continue with the same company under his artistic direction. After working with the guest choreographer Judith Jamison for her contemporary work, "Divining", Ms. Jamison invited Jacinta to join the Alvin Ailey Artists Summer Intensive in New York City. |
Successively, Ray Barra invited Jacinta to join the Deutsche Oper Berlin Ballet in Germany. The repertoire included John Cranko, George Balanchine, Roland Petit, Peter Schaufuss, William Forsythe etc. When Glen Tetley, staged “Voluntaries” he supported Jacinta's performance and promoted her to soloist in the same ballet. Jacinta also performed soloist roles in other works by prominent choreographers like John Neumeier, Maurice Béjart, Nacho Duato and others. Two years later, Richard Cragun succeeded the artistic direction and invited Rodrigo Pederneiras to create "Alluvium", in which Claudia Assmann of Dance Europe magazine highlighted Jacinta's performance.
Subsequently, the notable German choreographer and director, Jochen Ulrich invited Jacinta to join Tanztheater Tiroler Landestheater in Austria. Ulrich created several principal roles for Jacinta and she received very enthusiastic reviews generating additional performances. Ulrich appointed Jacinta as his personal assistant and she represented his interests in Berlin on cultural political matters. Additionally, Jacinta accepted Richard Wherlock's invitation to join the cast of "West Side Story" for the Bregenz Festival on Lake Constance in Austria.
Following this event, Jacinta returned to Berlin and continued to assist and personally represent internationally acclaimed artistic directors in dance, opera, film and theatre like Nigel Lowery at Staatsoper Berlin, Katharina Thalbach at Deutsche Oper Berlin and Dr. Dieter Wedel at the Nibelungen Festival in Worms. When Mikhail Baryshnikov's White Oak Dance Project toured Berlin, Jacinta joined same and lived her dream of being on stage with one of the great living legends of ballet. Concurrently, Jacinta accomplished a postgraduate Diploma in Business Management, Arts and Cultural Management (UniSA), receiving distinction for her field project with The Australian Ballet.
